In 1998 a joint venture between the government and private institutions changed the name of the tourist region known as Cancun-Tulum to the name Riviera Maya, which impulsed two decades of record growth. Today, the Tulum area is emerging as one of Mexico's most important tourist destinations of high potential and high significance for the entire state and Peninsula. Tulum in the midst of this boom, along with projects such as Aldea Zama, are working and developing communities that maintain the important equilibrium to administer the growth, improve the area while respecting the nature, for the continued benefits of today's visitors and residents but more importantly, for the benefit of tomorrow's visitors and residents.
